Mr M F had a major hamstring injury, which was not diagnosed at the time, but was unable to run and do normal daily activities.  On further investigation he had evidence that he had pulled his hamstrings completely away from his pelvis and these were retracted more than 15cm down the thigh.  We investigated him with MRI scan and nerve conduction studies that showed the nerve supply to the hamstrings was still intact.  He had his operation in November 2018 and we left the hamstrings where they were so as not to damage the nerve supply, but put a graft of donor tendon in between the hamstrings and the normal pelvic attachment.  This healed well with little pain and he is now back to running without pain.  An MRI scan shows that the hamstring attachments are functioning normally.
